Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for Pulmonary Care

Atrium Health, one of the most comprehensive public, not-for-profit healthcare systems in the nation, is actively recruiting for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for the Pulmonary Division at Atrium Health - Cabarrus.

This position will focus on treatment and management of pulmonary patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The successful APP will:

  • Manage acute and chronic pulmonary diseases and is encouraged to practice at the top of their license
  • Obtain a medical history, physical exam, document findings and prepare a plan of care in a timely manner including prescribing medications and ordering appropriate tests/procedures
  • Attend, participate in and contribute to group/practice meetings, development of policies and procedures, and quality improvement initiatives

Details of this practice and qualified candidate:

  • Physical practice location: Atrium Health Cabarrus, Concord, NC
  • Work schedule – Monday- Friday 8am-5pm, Rotation to nights / weekends only as needed for emergent/critical staffing shortages
  • APP will work rotating through inpatient and outpatient
  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program
  • Nurse practitioners are required to have an acute care master’s degree or doctorate in nursing practice. Certification as an ACNP from a nationally recognized certifying body is required
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of PAs is required.
  • 1- 2 years of APP experience preferred; post graduate Pulmonary Medicine fellowship and/or Pulmonary Medicine experience is a plus
  • North Carolina license, North Carolina DEA, BLS and ACLS required

Atrium Health Cabarrus

Atrium Health Cabarrus (formerly Carolinas Healthcare System Northeast, Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, later NorthEast Medical Center and Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast) is a 457-bed, acute-care, teaching hospital located in Concord, North Carolina, United States. Founded in 1937 during the Great Depression as Cabarrus County Hospital, the hospital has continued to expand. Today it serves most of Cabarrus County as a regional hospital. On December 16, 2006, Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast opened the new Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital in the Clinical Services building.

In early 2007, The Pavilion was completed, featuring the newly expanded Batte Cancer Center (a partner with Levine Cancer Institute) and Sanger Heart & Vascular. The Cabarrus College of Health Sciences is also on the campus.
