The Opportunity

The Inpatient Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to patients admitted to our inpatient psychiatric unit, with a focus on serving a diverse and underserved patient population. This role includes conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team. The position includes teaching and mentoring psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees as well as contributing to efforts aimed at reducing health disparities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys educating and mentoring residents and medical students, and strives to make a meaningful impact in their community.

Highlights

  • Clinical care: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including history-taking, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments, for patients from a range of cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Culture: Experience a collaborative, collegial environment amongst nursing staff, social workers, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to address the comprehensive needs of patients
  • Teaching and Mentoring: Educate, supervise, and mentor psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees in clinical settings
  • Research and Scholarship: Benefit from research mentorship and opportunities, and participate in institutional committees and initiatives
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and policies and maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and academic activities

Candidate Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Successful completion of residency in Psychiatry from an ACGME-accredited program prior to the start date
  • Board eligibility or certification in Psychiatry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted medical license & DEA from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to employment
