The Department of Neurosurgery within Cleveland Clinic’s Neurological Institute together with the Children’s Institute is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Pediatric Neurosurgeon to help grow the program at the main campus in Cleveland, Ohio. While all specialty interests would be considered, subspecialized training in complex pediatric cervical spine pathology and cerebrospinal fluid disorders (CSF)  would be especially favorable.

Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute (NI) offers a patient centered, disease-specific approach to neurological care. Our unique, fully integrated model allows us to deliver state-of-the-art, high-quality care with the key capacity to measure quality and outcomes on a continual basis.  This enhances our ability to conduct research and benefit future patients. The Cleveland Clinic neurology and neurosurgical services consistently receive high rankings in multiple national rankings related to patient care, education, and places to work.

Surgical volume focuses primarily on complex and routine pediatric neurosurgical cases. While the opportunity for sub-specialization exists, the neurosurgeon will care for many general conditions encompassing the breadth of pediatric neurosurgery.   The position will also include the diagnosis and treatment of transitional and adult patients with CSF disorders. The newly recruited neurosurgeon will share pediatric sub-specialty call on weekdays with one pediatric partner and participate in a combined adult cranial and pediatric call schedule on weekends and holidays. Call is on average 1:2 weekday (Mon-Thur) call and a generous 1:8 weekend calls, including one holiday per year.

As an academic institution with a strong focus on education, the recruited neurosurgeon would be actively involved in the neurosurgery residency program, resident and fellow teaching, and have resident and APP support for clinical care. Additional responsibilities will include programmatic building and community outreach, research, and scholarly activities.

This dynamic position commands an extremely competitive salary enhanced by an attractive benefits package including but not limited to:

  • Excellent medical, dental, vision coverage
  • Comprehensive disability and life insurance benefits
  • Medical malpractice & tail coverage
  • Generous time away coverage for vacation, sick time, holidays and CME meeting time
  • Highly competitive retirement plans with employer contribution
  • Faculty appointment available at the Cleveland Clinic Learner College of Medicine commensurate with experience

The section for Pediatric Neurosurgery is uniquely integrated within both the Center for Pediatric Neurosciences in the Neurological Institute and the Department of Integrated Surgical Care within the Children’s Institute.  There is close collaboration with pediatric neurology and other pediatric subspecialties within the Children’s institute to provide complete and comprehensive care to our most medically complex patients. The pediatric neurosurgery team is actively involved in multi-disciplinary care teams including the fetal care program, the spina bifida clinic, the craniofacial clinic, and the pediatric neuro-oncology group.  There is close partnership with the adult neurosurgical teams to provide superior subspecialized care for complex vascular, epilepsy, and skull base pathology, in addition to seamless transition from pediatric to adult care.
