Summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Physician Advisor to join the Department of Internal and Hospital Medicine.

The Physician Advisor role at Moffitt Cancer Center is a unique role in which 80% of time is dedicated to Physician Advisor roles and responsibilities and 20% is dedicated to clinical care. We believe strongly that all organizational leaders stay connected to our patients and our overall mission to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer. We believe that maintaining a clinical role is the best way to achieve credibility amongst our providers and stay connected to the needs of our hospital and patients.

The Physician Advisor works closely with hospital leadership, the entire medical staff including residents and advanced practice practitioners (APPs), case managers, social workers, clinical documentation specialists, coders and billers and the quality team. The Physician Advisor will report directly to the Chief Quality Officer and have a dual appointment in the Department of Internal and Hospital Medicine.

A Physician Advisor plays a crucial role at Moffitt by providing guidance and support related to clinical documentation, coding, compliance, and utilization management. Their primary goal is to ensure that healthcare services are appropriately documented, coded, and billed while adhering to regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Successful candidates must have a medical degree (MD/DO) or foreign equivalent, plus completion of residency training program in Internal Medicine, Board eligible or Board certified, Florida medical license or ability to get one, and qualified to obtain hospital privileges.
