Join the University of Rochester as the General Psychiatry Residency Program Director: Shape the Future of Psychiatry Education

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry is accepting applications for the position of General Psychiatry Residency Program Director. This position is for a full-time Clinician-Educator at the rank of Associate or full Professor. This role reports directly to the Chair and Associate Chair for Education, as well as to our institutional Office of GME and the ACGME.
  • Maintain Program ACGME Accreditation including routine review of and adherence to all program requirements, annual program evaluation, engagement in self-study processes and commitment to continuous quality improvement.
  • Direct recruitment and selection process for trainees while maintaining training program’s compliance within the RRC and the University of Rochester’s (UR’s) policies
  • Conduct a resident evaluation program including competency- and milestone-based evaluations, maintenance of a Clinical Competency Committee, integration of data from across an array of evaluators, and reporting on milestone progress per RRC requirements.
  • Develop and strengthen faculty through interviewing, reviewing performance, and ensuring engagement in faculty development.
  • Administer the program in the context of the Department of Psychiatry and University of Rochester, including the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), ACGME institutional requirements, and all initiatives aimed at improving the institutional learning environment
  • Conduct program evaluation and continual improvement through maintenance of a program evaluation committee; report required information through Web-ADS.
  • Monitor and promote a positive clinical learning environment that emphasizes: Patient Safety, Quality Improvement and Healthcare disparities, Teamwork and Interprofessionalism, Professionalism, Supervision, and Wellness
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Board certification in general psychiatry
  • Eligibility for an unrestricted NYS medical license
  • Three (3) or more years of psychiatry education program leadership, administration, and teaching in an ACGME accredited training program
  • Demonstration of outstanding academic accomplishments and trajectory which may include innovative educational program development, excellence in teaching, clinical leadership, or research
  • Strong communication skills and leadership capability
  • Track record of excellence in educational and academic endeavors
  • Evidence of capability to contribute to our Departmental commitment to diversity, equity, inclusivity, and excellence. Individuals with a history of and commitment to mentoring learners from historically and intentionally marginalized backgrounds.

Pay Range

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
