Gynecologic Oncologist Faculty
The UAMS Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology along with the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute is actively seeking a Gynecologic Oncologist to join its established and growing division as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Gynecologic Oncology.

UAMS is the only academic medical center in the state and serves a diverse population of urban, rural, underserved and minority populations. This also allows physicians to care for a wide array of gynecological cancers.  This is a well-established practice with a new phase 1 clinic, cooperative and NRG(GOG) group clinical trial participation and 3 DaVinci robotic systems with dedicated block time.  Along with 3 physicians, the team also consists of 3 advanced nurse practitioners and state of the art clinical facilities within the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. Multidisciplinary services including radiation oncology, dedicated gynecologic pathologist, genetic counseling with onsite testing and palliative care inpatient and outpatient service.

At UAMS we have a fully accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology with five residents a year, with plans to move toward a gynecologic oncology fellowship in the future.  Successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in both resident and medical student education. The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer institute is Arkansas’ only academic cancer treatment and research facility.  With the overwhelming support of the State Legislature and the UAMS Chancellor we are well on our way to becoming Arkansas’ first and only cancer center designated by the National Cancer Institute.  UAMS is also nationally ranked on the 2022 Forbes magazine Best Employers for Diversity.

Qualifications:
  • MD/DO degree from a recognized accredited University (or foreign equivalent)
  • Completed a gynecologic oncology fellowship program
  • ABOG Board certified mid-career applicants as well as ABOG Board eligible applicants will be considered.

We offer a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, relocation allowance, malpractice insurance and more. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and productivity. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged.

About UAMS

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences was founded in 1879 by eight physicians. Today UAMS is the state’s only academic health center, part of a statewide network of postsecondary education institutions of the University of Arkansas System governed by a 10-member Board of Trustees.

In addition to its next-generation hospital and outpatient center on the now 84-acre campus, UAMS is home to the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Professions, Public Health, and a graduate school. But UAMS is much more than its central campus, the university runs clinics in all 75 counties in the state, eight regional family medical centers, eight Centers on Aging, and one of the most successful Head Start Programs in the nation.

Little Rock, AR

Little Rock is located in a beautiful part of the country. There are many state parks that are well maintained and offer ample opportunities for outdoor activities.

Little Rock thrives in “New South” culture, offering a booming nightlife, entertainment, and dining scenes. The hub of Little Rock is the bustling River Market District featuring restaurants, shops, bars, nightlife, museums and hotels as well as the area's main library. Focal points in the city include the Clinton Presidential Center & Park and the Central Arkansas Nature Center. The Clinton Presidential Park Wetlands add “green” as well, with boardwalks winding throughout the preserve in downtown Little Rock. In the vicinity you'll also find the family-friendly Museum of Discovery, which features an interactive indoor playground for young and old. A ride in the METRO Streetcar will take you through the River Market District and into North Little Rock.  Arts and culture mavens will love the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, which houses both traveling exhibitions and an exceptional permanent collection of works on paper.

The city is also home to 15 miles of scenic riverfront walking and cycling trails, along with one of the longest pedestrian and bicycle bridges in America. One highlight is that golf can be played 12 months a year. Arkansas is famous for its green timber duck hunting, bass fishing and even trout fishing on the world famous White River tail water. The Buffalo River, a pristine floatable 120-mile long protected national park is two hours from downtown Little Rock. Travel is relatively easy due to the close proximity of the Little Rock National Airport and a number of interstate highways. Memphis is 140 miles east, St. Louis is 360 miles north, Dallas is 325 miles southwest and New Orleans is 420 miles south. Moreover, the Little Rock School District has approximately 25,000 students, who are educated in 50 schools throughout the system, and is also the home of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
