Scope

The Medical Director-Musculoskeletal Clinical Program-Podiatry role is reporting to Senior Medical Director, Musculoskeletal Clinical Program. While primary relationships include all physicians and providers within their defined subspecialty, the Medical Director collaborates, communicates, and builds relationships with applicable members of the healthcare team.

Job Essentials

Physician leader for Musculoskeletal Providers within the podiatry subspecialty.

Maintains clinical responsibilities as a podiatrist.

Leads physician collaborations in the Musculoskeletal Service Line for the podiatry subspecialty.

Defines and establishes care models that best meet the needs of patients with Musculoskeletal needs, conditions, and diagnoses.

Leads the process to identify where care should be provided with service line leadership and providers.

Develops and implements a communication process which regularly informs and connects Musculoskeletal providers across the region. Collaborates with other members of the service line, clinical services, specialty care, and community care team to develop care pathways for Musculoskeletal conditions.

Assesses the access, demand and need for Musculoskeletal care and assists service line leadership, specialty care, and Medical Group in the recruitment process. Evaluates opportunities to scale resources across the system using technology (e.g. telemedicine). Addresses performance concerns of providers working in concert with specialty care. Serves as a region expert for peer review for Musculoskeletal cases in the podiatry subspecialty and ensures a rapid response to requests to evaluate care or concerns. Participates in the

Musculoskeletal Service Line strategic planning process. Helps develop annual goals and ensures goals and objectives are achieved.

Supports appropriate research endeavors for the Musculoskeletal Service Line and collaborates with the Office of Research.

Provides specialty specific review and consultation as requested by SelectHealth.

Provides specialty specific consultation as requested by Digital Technology Services.

Minimum Qualifications

D.P.M. Education must be obtained through a CMPE-accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

ABPM Board Certification in podiatry.

Active Licensure, or in process of obtaining licensure.

Three years of clinical experience working as a podiatrist.

Two years of experience leading successful improvement in clinical settings.

  • and -

Two years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.

  • and -

Experience with change management and leading in the adaptation and implementation of new processes or technology that enhance safety.

  • and -

Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Trained in improvement science (i.e., Six Sigma, Lean, Project management, Advanced Training Program).

Experience working in a complex health system (e.g., hospitals, ambulatory clinics, post-acute care).

Demonstrated leadership of clinicians.
